Helps eligible students to prepare for careers and/or further education after high school through the Workforce Investment Act (WIA). Vocational (job) training and financial aid guidance is given. Students may receive job internships, job shadowing opportunities, subsidized work experience, stipends for attending tutoring and other incentives. The YDS Coordinators work closely with the students to connect them with other resources through the Eastbay Works One Stop Career Centers.
Young parents can also find help for their three to five-year old children through the HIPPY program (Home Instruction Program for Pre-School Youngsters). This program is designed to support parents who wish to provide education enrichment at home for their preschooler. Parents are trained to present simple lessons to their children that help them develop their language, problem solving and discrimination skills. |
